Butter Makes Everything Better
Butter – that rich creamy spread that makes warm bread heavenly, makes cookies even better! People have been making butter for thousands of years. Butter is cream that is shaken or churned until it thickens into butter. American farmwives would skim the cream off the milk, place it in a wooden butter churn and make butter. As towns and cities grew, butter was often used in trade as currency. As cities grew larger and people moved west, butter was made in larger amounts in creameries or butter factories. The Vermont Butter and Cheese Company in Websterville makes an award winning cultured butter. The cream is cultured before it is churned. Their butter is a European-style butter, a bit higher in fat than standard U.S. butter. It adds a richness to baking or to your table. |
